Sally Moluf Hoss Exhibits New Paintings at Michael Phipps Gallery
Elkhorn, NE--May 16, 2003--From June 1st to June 21st, 2003, an exhibit of new paintings by native Nebraska artist, Sally Moluf Hoss, will be on display in the Michael Phipps Gallery on the main floor of the W. Dale Clark Library. The artist will be present at the exhibit during the opening reception on Saturday, June 7, 2003 from 2:00 - 4:00 pm.
Moluf Hoss' paintings contain organic patterns and shapes within nature. This exhibit of paintings focuses primarily on her recent Consideration series and Mindnest series. Her work aims to combine the tangible shapes and patterns of nature with the intangible thoughts and attitudes within the human mind. As a result, the images are often organic and natural with the overall painting ranging from semi-abstract to abstract.
The Consideration series is a series of semi-abstract landscapes. The paintings can be viewed simply as landscapes, but the series is meant to be contemplative. Each painting in the series visually represents a critical moment in time where a person stops to evaluate or consider their progress in life.
The Mindnest series is a series of abstract nests representing a human mind at a particular moment in time. The nest in each painting depicts a state of mind while the outside world is represented in the area surrounding the nest.
The recent paintings of Sally Moluf Hoss can be viewed during regular library hours from June 1st through June 21st, 2003. The exhibit is free and open to the public. The W. Dale Clark library is located in Omaha, Nebraska at 215 South 15th Street. For more information on this Nebraska artist visit the web site: www.sallymolufhoss.com.
